Worship Service Ministry
Sunday morning services are the heart of Hillhurst United Church. This is where we come together as a community to connect with the sacred and explore our core values. Join us Sundays at 9:05 and 10:45.
The worship committee is a group of volunteers committed to creating and supporting a worship experience that resonates with the spiritual needs and the core values of the congregation. Worship is a team endeavour and we perform a variety of roles and duties.

This is the lead volunteer person in a worship service. They organize other volunteers, pitch in where necessary, and generally make sure everything is running smoothly so that the Ministers and their team can concentrate on delivering the service.
The welcome team is an integral part of Hillhurst’s ministry of radical hospitality. They are the first people that our community sees on Sunday mornings. In addition to providing a warm hello and a friendly smile, they hand out bulletins and provide assistance as needed.
It has been said that coffee is a sacred and essential beverage to many during our 9:05 and 10:45 service. The fresh scent of coffee is a tangible symbol of our hospitality and warmth. Would you like to be a part of this caffeinated ritual? The coffee recruiting team would like to fill in all Sunday morning coffee-maker slots so this doesn’t become a weekly begging or guilt exercise.
The Lunch Team is the foundation of our post-service community building. We can all sit in a pew, but when we eat together, something magical happens. Many find their first connections over this Sunday lunch. Whether you want to prep, clean, serve, or organize, this is a fantastic way to give to your church!
Worship Visuals Designers
Beautiful and inspiring visuals are an important part of our worship services. If you have a good eye for design and would like to put together visual pieces and backgrounds for our songs and other elements of the service, please join us! It's lots of fun and gives you a chance to flex your creative muscles. All training is provided and if you're comfortable with presentation software, it will be easy! Commitment is usually for both services (9:05am and 10:45am) once a month. Contact Helena Lamb at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info!
Communion Prep and Serving
The worship committee coordinates both the logistics and the roster of monthly communion servers that assist our Ministers in offering communion to the congregation. Seem daunting? It’s easy! And all are welcome to take part.
