We are thrilled that you are interested in the sacred ritual of baptism for your child. Our congregation joyfully participates in this celebration and we delight in your choice of Hillhurst United Church as the place to mark this important occasion.
When are Baptisms held?
Once per month
What is Baptism?
Baptism is a sacred ritual of welcome, thanksgiving and gratitude for the life of a person. It is a sacrament that connects us to the ways of Christ in our life.
Is a Baptism class required?
Yes. Baptism classes help you connect with the meaning of the vows.
Classes are held on one evening the week prior to your Baptism date.
Do you have to be a member of Hillhurst to have your child baptised?
No. Membership is not required, but we would like your family to be part of our community. We ask that you visit on a baptism Sunday to understand what our service looks like. Our community makes a vow of supporting your child in their faith journey.
What religious denomination or background do I need to have?
We welcome people from any religious denomination or background to come and learn and decide what works best for you in your faith journey.
Can an adult be baptised more than once?
We feel baptism is done once regardless of the denomination.
Is there a baptism class for adults?
Yes, we include adult baptism with our membership class. This baptism is usually done on our Membership Sunday, held once or twice each year.
