    Worship Services

Sunday morning services are the lifeline of Hillhurst. This is where we come together as a community to connect with the sacred and embrace our core values.

The worship committee is a group of volunteers committed to creating and supporting a worship experience that resonates with the spiritual needs and the core values of the congregation. Worship is a team endeavour and we perform a variety of roles and duties.

Some of our available volunteer positions include:

    Worship Assistants

In collaboration with the worship team, the worship assistant helps create the opportunity for our faith community to have a meaningful worship experience. The worship assistant plays an important role overseeing the logistics of worship. This may include running the PPT slides, cueing up media, or running the audio (training provided.) We try to be aware of anything we can do (before, during and after the service) to make the worship flow smoothly and to help the congregation feel at ease to enjoy the service.

    Greeters

Greeters are an integral part of Hillhurst’s ministry of radical hospitality. They are the first people that our community sees on Sunday mornings. In addition to providing a warm hello and a friendly smile, our greeters hand out our bulletins and provide assistance as needed.

    Bread Kneading

On the last Sunday of the month, we have a bread kneading ceremony. This is an opportunity for the entire congregation to come up and help prepare the ritual bread for communion.

    Communion Prep and Serving

The worship committee coordinates both the logistics and the roster of monthly communion servers that assist our Minister in offering communion to the congregation.

    Baptism

We help with the baptism class for adults and parents of children to be baptised, as well as assist in the actual ceremony, usually held one Sunday per month.

    Sanctuary Decor

The committee plays a lead role in providing a visual experience that supports all aspects of worship.
