Sunday Worship

Regular Sunday Services

Join us for relaxed and inviting Sunday gatherings at 11:00 AM (10:00 AM June to August).

Hillhurst United offers a unique place to take the first step in a deeper exploration of faith and life issues. Our services are casual, energetic and inspiring.  The coffee's on before and during the service, so come as you are.

Lunch is normally served in the gym after the morning service.

Nursery care provided.

Free parking across the street in the school parking lot.

An audio archive of selected sermons can be found here.

Sunday School

Children 0-12 start in the Sanctuary with their parents.  There is a Children's Time during the worship service, and then children are invited to attend age appropriate Sunday School Classes with Kari and other volunteers.

At Hillhurst United Church the Children's Ministry Curriculum is based on the theories of Godly Play (see www.godlyplay.org )

Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

Youth Church

Jr. and Sr. High Youth meet Sunday morning in the Library -  a space for young people to hang out with other kids and talk about issues of importance.  They will meet during church the first three Sundays  of the Month, and join the congregation on the fourth Sunday (when the band plays). The Leaders are Jordan Paton and Greg Powell.

Baptisms

Baptisms are held every second month, usually on the second Sunday.  Baptism is a sacred ritual of welcome, membership, thanksgiving and gratitude for the life of a person. It is a sacrament that connects us to the WAYS of Christ in our life. Baptism classes help you connect with the meaning of the vows.  They will be held on the Tuesday evening immediately prior to the Baptism date unless otherwise indicated. For 2008, Baptisms will be held  June 8, October 12, and December 14.

The congregation joyfully participates in this celebration and we delight in your choice of  Hillhurst United as the place to mark this occasion. We welcome people from any religious denomination or background to come and learn and decide what works best for you.
