Get Involved
Hillhurst is so much more than Sunday service. We
have many opportunities to get involved!
Community Outreach
Inspired
by the words and actions of Jesus, the Outreach
committee addresses issues of social justice and the environment
through education, advocacy and action with the intention of fostering
spiritual growth and nurturing real transformation in the local and
global community. For more information, visit the Outreach page.
Gen Nou
Our "generation nouveau" (or "nouvelle génération" for
language
purists) is a loose group of Hillhurst's "younger" folk who get
together to discuss the issues of the day from a faith
perspective. Open to all ages! For more information, see
the Gen
Nou website.
Music program
If you have music in your soul and you would like to share, you might
consider adding your voice or other musical talents
to Hillhurst
United Choir. For more information, visit the
Music page.
Sunday Lunch
If you would like to
give the gift of Hospitality by volunteering to host one of our
post-Sunday Service lunches, please send
an email to
lunch@hillhurstunited.com
with your preferred date and contact information. One of our Lunch
Advisors (Elaine, Marcia or Peanut) will be in touch to help make this
fun for you and your family or friends.
Everything
You Need to Know.
Inn From the Cold
Hillhurst United
is part of the Inn From the Cold
ministry to homeless people. We host our guests overnight the
third Saturday of every month. If you would like to volunteer
to
help with meals, provide hospitality, or provide overnight awake
assistance, contact the office.
Interfaith Food Bank
Hillhurst United participates in the
Calgary Interfaith Food Bank,
a charitable organization whose mission is to provide quality
emergency food to those in need. You can drop off food anytime,
although the
third Sunday of every month has been designated Food Bank Donation Day.
Items that are always needed include juice (1 litre), baby formula with
iron, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, peanut butter, canned beans
in tomato sauce, cereal, soups, baby food (jars), canned fish, macaroni
and cheese, canned vegetables, rice, canned meat, canned fruit, and
processed cheese spread (jar). No perishables or breakables please. The
Food Bank donation box is in the back of the sanctuary in the western
entrance hall.
