    Fire & Grace Contemplative Group

    The Fire & Grace Contemplative Group is a gathering of people who share worship, silent prayer/meditation, study and companionship on the spiritual journey. Some members are brand new to the spiritual path; some have studied the Gospels or the teachings of Christian mystics and saints; some lean more toward Buddhist or Sufic teachings; while still others follow a more secular-spiritual path. Yet, we are all called!

    All in all, Fire & Grace is, at heart, a very open group, “ecumenical” in the widest sense of the word, and deeply grateful for the countless sources through which the Divine speaks and leads.

    At Hillhurst, Fire & Grace gathers on the first and fourth Wednesday evenings of the month, from 6:00pm to 8pm. We begin with 45 minutes of creative worship designed to deepen our connection to the Holy through silence, scripture, and music, followed by an hour of study, companionship, and the exploration of the modern contemplative life in action. We also periodically host or co-host special presentations & events.

    6pm  - Enter in silence;
    6:15pm - Contemplative worship: silence, scripture, music
    7pm - Conversation

    Attend sessions as you are able. Everyone is welcome!

    The group is facilitated by Betsy Young, Lay Minister, Wild Rose United Church; and Susan Cooper, Hillhurst United Church.

    For more information contact Susan Cooper at 403.818.4887 or e-mail her here.

    “What is it that we mean by
    ‘Christianity’? What is the filter
    that we’re looking through? Who
    is this Master that we profess and
    confess in our life as we call ourselves
    Christian? […] have we
    really yet unlocked the power to
    deeply understand and follow this
    Jesus along the radical path
    he is calling us to?”
